PLYMOUTH – Bob Branham returned to the top spot last weekend at the Canasawacta Country Club’s Club Championships.
Branham fell a stroke shy in the rain-shortened tourney a year ago. Using rounds of 70, 67, and 72 – a 4-under-par aggregate – Branham easily claimed the men’s scratch title winning by 17 shots over runner-up Tim Carson.
Also winning titles were Joe Loftus (senior men’s gross); Larry Lewis (men’s and senior handicap); Casey Marson, women’s scratch; and Joan Porack, women’s handicap.
Marson, coming off a win in the Chenango County Amateur, won her first CCC title edging longtime defending champion, Amy Spittler by a single stroke.
Lewis won the men’s handicap in a playoff with Joe McBride. The two finished a net 8-under-par to force the extra holes. Lewis and McBride also shared the first-place spot in the senior men’s handicap, with the playoff result determining both titles.
Loftus captured the senior scratch title by one shot over McBride. Loftus finished a combined 7-over-par.
