OXFORD – The Oxford Youth Sports Program will host its first fundraising golf tournament Saturday to raise money for the not-for-profit group, which offers soccer, t-ball and basketball programs for children ages 5 to 12.
“We use the money we raise to offset the costs of sports that the children and their families that play,” explained OYSP President Tim O’Brien, who said the group has always tried to keep the cost to participants at or below that of other similar programs. “We wish that we could have the children play for free and hopefully in the future we can with doing fundraising such as this.”
This Saturday’s captain and crew format tournament will take place at Blue Stone Golf Course, 44 Scott St., Oxford. Registration opens at noon, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Awards will be presented at 6 p.m.
The cost to participate is $50 per golfer, which includes greens fees and cart rental.
