S-E 3, Mount Markham 1

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville broke away from a tie game with a superlative second half in Monday’s league win over Mount Markham.

Carter Cole scored the go-ahead goal for the Marauders (3-1-1), and Mike Harlost tacked on an insurance goal with less than 10 minutes to play. “They scored early on us, and it was a wake-up call,” said S-E coach Mike Rodriguez. “We were able to respond fairly quickly and tie it. The second half was much more dominating for us. We began to win more of the 50-50 balls, and the defense tightened up.”

S-E tied the game when Cole set up Trevor Bays’ goal 10 minutes after the Mount Markham goal.
