GREENE – Floodfest-Greene, a benefit for those affected by the recent severe flooding, will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 2 at the Geneganstlet Golf Course.
Games, bake sales, a bike run and numerous food vendors are just a few of the activities to look forward to at this free benefit, said event coordinator Wess Van Voorhis. All proceeds will be donated to a local community awareness group so that aid will be properly distributed.
“Everyone has been fantastic about putting this event together,” said Voorhis, explaining how he came up with the idea while driving to work last week. “I had the idea in the morning ... seeing all of the debris on the side of the road ... and by literally 7 o’clock that night we were having a committee meeting.”
Voorhis explained that everyone involved with the event so far has donated their time and materials so that, as of today, there have been zero expenses.
