Greene 4, Sidney 0
GREENE – Playing its third game in three days and fifth contest since last Friday, the Trojans showed no worse for wear blanking Sidney to stay unbeaten on the season.
“Last night we played really well, and tonight we played much better in the second half,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “We were holding on to the ball too much in the first half tonight and just weren’t connecting. We made an adjustment to release the ball sooner and get the ball moving ahead. We had some pretty passing combinations.”
Jahna Driscoll scored off a Brandee Schoonmaker feed for the only goal of the opening half. Early in the second half, a penalty corner play worked to perfection. Driscoll took the entry pass, dumped it to Colleen Dietrich near the goal, and Dietrich slid the ball to Emily Gascon for the tally. Driscoll would add a second goal, and Paige Castle found the cage for the second time in as many games.
Greene will be idle until Nov. 5 when it hosts Vestal in the Section IV Class A finals. “It will be good to have some time off to get everyone healthy,” Carlin said. “We also have time to tweak some things.”
