NORWICH – Chenango County’s $84.65 million proposed spending plan for next year includes 2 percent raises for supervisors and department directors, despite a disagreement last month on the compensation amount.
Preston Supervisor Peter C. Flanagan did not pull a resolution that fixed salaries at yesterday’s meeting of the county board. His proposal to freeze supervisors’ raises last month and a subsequent motion from fellow Democrat Richard Schlag of German to lower supervisors’ and department directors’ raises from 2 to 1.5 percent both failed to garner enough votes to pass. As a result, the original proposal offered by the county’s personnel committee came before the board again this month.
Flanagan said he didn’t think he had the votes to contest the resolution again yesterday.
