NORWICH – The public is invited to learn the status of New York State Electric and Gas’ application for tax abatement in order to build a 10.7-mile electrical power line through the northwest towns of Sherburne and Columbus.
The line is needed, according to NYSEG, in order to enhance regional reliability and meet the increasing demand for electricity brought about by expansion at Chobani Greek yogurt manufacturer, Agro Farma, Inc., in the Town of Columbus.
As lead agency in reviewing the project, the Chenango County Industrial Development Agency has scheduled public hearings on Tuesday, Feb. 21 in Village of Sherburne offices and again on Thursday, Feb. 23 in the Columbus Town Hall.
