City Parks Commission honors Stuart Chase for years of service

NORWICH – Longtime City Parks Commission Member Stuart Chase was awarded a plaque of recognition for his commitment to the City of Norwich at Monday night’s Parks Commission meeting.

Chase, who has been an active member of the Parks Commission since 1993, gave up his seat on the committee in December. As a committed member of the city and avid enthusiast of the city’s history and heritage, Chase became known among other Parks Commission members as a “human encyclopedia” for the City of Norwich and his devotion proved him to be a valued member of the community.

“A lot of people see the city as just city hall and the city council, but there’s so much more to it than that. Mr. Chase has been an integral part of this committee,” said Mayor Joseph Maiurano, honoring Chase before presenting him an award of recognition. “You have been the solution to a lot of problems over the years,” he told Chase. “The city could always use more people like you.”
