Once again as new information was researched and found we return to add new pages to the book relevant to the above school. When the Union School was erected on the hill (formerly Winsor Avenue, now School Street) the trustees were of the opinion that this new facility would be sufficient for a lengthy period of time. They soon realized that they needed facilities for not only sports, but additionally other school activities. Thus the idea came to mind that with the increase in the population of the village and township that a new larger, up-to-date modern educational facility was needed and in the not too far distant future.

In this the greatest country on this earth (persons of other countries might disagree on that) it is our privilege to “speak our minds” and express either likes or dislikes relevant to any given word, statement, politics, weather, entertainment, etc. Education is no exception to this rule.

The residents of the township of Guilford have over the course of this village disagreed with each other and the Board of Trustees of the school. However in the long run they were extremely interested (with a few exceptions) in the best education for their children. Even to be interested enough to “get all heated up about education issues.”
