NORWICH – Volunteers from Chenango County Habitat for Humanity have their aprons and soup ladles at hand, preparing for the organization’s newest fundraiser, the CCHH Souper Bowl, to be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on March 31 at the VFW Post on East Main Street in Norwich.
The Souper Bowl is a fundraising event that invites community members to sip on different types of soup, which will be donated by restaurants throughout the area. It’s a great way to bring the community together for a good cause in a new, one-of-a-kind way, said Terri Bickford, fundraising committee chair for Chenango County Habitat for Humanity.
“This is something that’s nice and unique,” Bickford said. “People and restaurants have both been generously donating, and it’s all going toward a good cause.”
To date, 14 restaurants have confirmed donations of various soups, from vegetable beef to deluxe seafood chowder to turkey bisque, just to name a few.
In addition, Java Joe’s and More of Norwich is donating coffee and tea, Chobani will generously provide yogurt, and La Maison Blanche Bakery along with County Court Judge Howard Sullivan have agreed to supply bread and rolls for the event.
