NORWICH – The Monday Evening Musical Club will present Rabbit in the Rye at 7:30 tonight. The performance will take place at United Church of Christ, 11 W. Main Street in Norwich.
Rabbit in the Rye has a large and devoted following in the Hamilton community. The group was founded as a small folk project between acoustic songwriter Joseph Mettler and trumpet extraordinaire Randy Larkin, and has since grown to a hardy, four-piece rock folkestra. With the addition of Isaac Mettler on bass and electric guitar, and drummer Brendan O’Connor (Same Blood Folk Band) the band combines basic folk-rooted instrumentation with catchy, poetic rock music that you can move to. They play a variety of familiar covers in exciting, new ways, along with their own memorable originals.
All Monday Evening Musical Club performances are free and open to the public. Music Club welcomes free-will donations, all of which are used for its scholarship program. Auditions are held each year for Chenango County high school seniors who plan to major in music in college. The club has awarded approximately 85 scholarships since 1954.
