COPES CORNERS – The Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton Central School Drama Club will present two showings of its spring production – “Fair Exchange” – at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the GMU auditorium.
Julie Fair (senior Kayla Zinn) is one of the brightest girls in school, yet is too plain to be noticed by the boys. Her mother (senior Sabrina Brooks), on the other hand, is an attractive woman, but not smart enough to run her husband’s import business since he vanished a year ago while on an expedition. And considering mother and daughter are about as different as two people can be, one can only imagine what happens when a strange African artifact causes them to switch bodies.
The pair decide to keep the switch a secret – to great comedic effect – according to Director Winnie Sortman, all the while trying to figure out a way to get things back to normal. Meanwhile, Mrs. Fair is being blackmailed by suitor Howard Langtree (junior Rian West), who’s trying to convince her to annul her marriage and marry him. Julie, in the meantime, must tutor the cutest boy in school (senior Demario Reed) and convince a committee to grant her a college scholarship.
