Chenango Valley 5, Norwich 1
NORWICH - Defending Class B state champion Chenango Valley was led by the pitching of Dominik Forbidussi and the hitting of Adam Greene and Austin Lewis in a victory over the Purple Tornado (7-6) Friday afternoon.
Forbidussi pitched six strong innings giving up just a single run to the Tornado, a Cody Barnes RBI single that scored older brother Ben Barnes in the fourth.
Greene doubled in one run and hit a two-run single in the third, and Austin Lewis had two hits, one a triple, in a 2-for-2 day. Greene added a diving catch in the last inning on the foul ball to put a stamp on the CV win. “Chenango Valley is an extremely athletic team that doesn’t hurt itself and plays with fantastic confidence,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “We did a better job at the plate, but we hurt ourselves on defense making four errors in the first three innings.”
Dennis Oralls had two hits for Norwich, who play at Owego Tuesday.
