CICERO – A pair of Norwich sophomores placed at the New York State Division II Track and Field Meet, this past weekend at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.
Record-breaker Matt Murray placed second in the D-2 400-meter dash with the second-best time of his career timing 49.59. Murray was the lone underclassman in the finals, and fell half a second short of Section I’s Kevin Hunter of Pawling. With two years left in his varsity career, Murray is already the school record-holder in the 200-, 400-, and 800-meter distances, and is also part of two record-breaking relays.
“I think Matt has a real good shot the next two years in a few events,” said Norwich coach Shaun Horan. “It will be tough to decide what to put him in, but it’s a good problem to have.”
