NORWICH – Commerce Chenango and the Norwich Business Improvement District are launching the first-ever Cash Mob in Chenango County. A Cash Mob is when a group of people gather together at a local business at the same time and day to purchase items from that store in support of the business and the local community. The Chenango Cash Mob will join together on June 30 at 10:30 a.m. to “MOB” one lucky local business and purchase items. Community members and local businesses are invited to participate.

Businesses that want to be considered for a visit by the Chenango Cash Mob should email chenangocm@gmail.com or call 334-1401 by June 15 and nominate themselves to be “MOBBED.” To be eligible for a visit on June 30, the business must be a locally owned and independently operated retail business in Norwich. The business that will receive a visit by the “MOB” will be selected by a community vote. Additionally, the Chenango Cash Mob will be visiting other businesses throughout the County over the next year and invites businesses outside of Norwich to nominate themselves for the next “MOBBING.”

Community members that want to join the “MOB” should email chenangocm@gmail.com, call 334-1401, and/or follow the Chenango Cash Mob on Twitter and Facebook. Chenango Cash Mob participants should be committed to making a minimum purchase of $10 at the businesses selected for the June 30 “MOBBING.”
