OXFORD – Janet Laytham, High School Principal, has announced the five top honor students at Oxford Academy & Central High School. They are listed in ranked order from one to five with the honors earned and major activities:
Hannah E. Dorsey, daughter of Ms. Margaret Dorsey, South Washington Ave, Oxford, New York has been actively involved in student government for six years and has been a member of National Honor Society since her sophomore year. Every year in high school, she played soccer and participated and performed in drama club, band, chorus, and marching band. In addition, Hannah was recognized for her commitment to community service and leadership by being selected for the Girls State Leadership Program in 2010. Hannah plans to Cornell University in the fall.
Jacquelyn A. Heggie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Heggie Jr., Ingraham Road, Oxford, New York is the President of the National Honor Society and student government Secretary. Throughout her high school career she has been a 3 season athlete, playing soccer, basketball, and softball each year, and has been actively involved in band and marching band. She has been recognized for her leadership being nominated for the Girls State Leadership Program and the Rotary Youth Leadership Program in 2010. Jackie has worked as a lifeguard at Oxford’s Public Pool teaching swimming lessons and as a summer reading assistant in Oxford Academy’s Primary School. Jackie plans to attend Elmira College in the fall.
Olivia R. Roach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Beth Roach, Wilcox Road, Oxford, New York is an active member of the National Honor Society. She has been on the volleyball team for the past four years, the softball team for the past three years and in her senior year she served as the volleyball team captain. She has also participated in band and marching band throughout her four years in high school. Olivia is currently attending the New Visions Allied Health program and she is planning to become an occupational therapist. Olivia will be attending D’Youville College in the fall.
Ryan P. Moore, son of Patrick and Judy Moore, Oxford, is an active member of National Honor Society. He has been a three-sport athlete his entire high school career and was captain of all three his junior and senior years. He achieved his Eagle Scout in May of his sophomore year, attended Boy’s State in 2011 and is a Clarkson Young Scholar. He volunteers his time to Little League and OYSP. Ryan is planning on attending Clarkson University in the fall.
Evan W.M. Landau, son of Trent Ferrington and Maria Landau, Bainbridge, New York is an active member of National Honor Society. Evan has played soccer and participated and performed in drama club, band, chorus, and marching band all four years of high school. Evan was recognized for his leadership and community service being nominated as Oxford High School’s Rotary Youth Leadership Ambassador in 2010. Evan is an active volunteer outside of school with St. Joseph’s Church and with the Oxford Rotary Club. Evan plans to attend Louisiana Tech University in the fall.
