GREENE – A box culvert was installed on state Rt. 12 near the intersection with Slater Road in Greene on Monday and another is planned over the July 4th week as the 6-mile, $13.7 million highway construction project continues.
State officials, workers and Village Mayor Marsha Miller took time out Monday to showcase progress and announce plans for an accelerated work schedule planned over the Independence Day holiday. In an agreement with Raymond Corporation, the town and Chenango County’s largest employer, construction will be extended during a company-planned hiatus.
“With Raymond shut down, we can go into action and minimize the impact to business and the community as a whole,” said New York State Department of Transportation Region 9 spokesman David J. Hamburg.
