COLUMBUS – Chobani held an Olympic celebration unlike any other Friday, when thousands turned out to Werner Farm in the Town of Columbus to witness the opening ceremonies of the games and the debut of the yogurt company’s national television ad, which was filmed entirely in Chenango County.
The greek yogurt company hosted the rock-star sized event for Chobani workers, their families and other members of the community with a spread of free food, yogurt, and an opportunity cheer on Team USA as well as the county’s fastest growing industry on a 40-foot by 22-foot television screen.
“We wanted to make sure that the people in the community, our farmers, our workers, were part of this,” said Chobani CEO and founder Hamdi Ulukaya. Ulukaya announced in May that the national commercial campaign, titled “Proudly With You,” would be filmed using mostly Chenango farmers, residents and businesses, and would air every day during the Olympic games. He addressed Friday’s crowd with a sense of optimism about what sponsoring Team USA would do for the future of Chobani.
