NORWICH – The Chenango Blues Association will wrap-up this year’s Summer Concert Series with a special, 7 p.m. performance by Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience Tuesday at the Chenango County Fairgrounds.
With more than 25 years on the zydeco scene, Simien is renowned worldwide for his original take on zydeco and its Creole roots. According to his website, Simien “creates a hypnotic blend” of Zydeco-roots and New Orleans flavored, Afro-Caribbean world music “that will force you out of your seat and onto the dance floor.”
Said Chenango Blues Association President Eric Larsen, “Terrance is one of our favorite acts and we’re glad to be bringing him back once again.”
For the past 27 years, Simien and the Zydeco Experience have performed annually at the New Orleans Jazz Fest, and Simien has shared the stage with such legendary artists as Stevie Wonder, Taj Mahal, Los Lobos, Dr. John, the Meters, Paul Simon and the Dave Matthews Band, among many others. In 2005, the group took to the main stage for the 13th annual Chenango Blues Festival. Since then, they’ve returned a twice for the Blues Association’s Summer Concert Series.
