FIELD HOCKEY
Greene 6, Afton 0
GREENE – From the moment it scored its first goal, Greene rolled on the offensive end opening with a non-league shutout victory over Afton Monday afternoon.
Jahna Driscoll and Jessica Durdon had two goals apiece in the first half to help build a 5-0 lead. The Trojans netted their first goal at 21:44 and made it 2-0 just four minutes later. The last three goals of the half came with less than 10 minutes to go in the first 30 minutes, and were scored a mere 3 1/2 minutes apart.
“It took us a little bit of time to get the first one, then we were able to get another one quick,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “I was really pleased with our passing, and the veterans are doing a good job of bringing along the newbies. Afton has a young team, but you can see their progress and they are doing the right things.”
Emma Anderson and sophomore Tiffany Borst added tallies for Greene, who play at Cicero-North Syracuse on Sept. 1.
