FIELD HOCKEY
Canastota 2, Sherburne-Earlville 1
SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville was unable to sustain its quick start.
Canastota rallied for two second-half goals Tuesday in a comeback victory over the Marauders (2-5 overall).
Julia Collins tallied for the Raiders at the 15:37 mark knotting the game at one, and Kelly Mason scored the game winner just over four minutes later. “We had some opportunities to tie it up, we just got a little panicky in their penalty circle,” said S-E coach Sheila Cooman. “I was pretty happy with our defensive recovery, and the midfield did a good job setting up the offense. We came back strong after they took the lead, we just didn’t have a stick in the right place to score the tying goal.”
S-E dominated the early action, and scored less than five minutes in when Emma Hodges set up Shelby Scheffler’s close-range tally.
S-E (2-5) plays at Sauquoit Valley Thursday.
