GREENE – Greene Varsity Football Coach will resume his duties Monday, according to a press release sent by the school Friday afternoon.

"Following several meetings and meaningful discussions, the Greene Central School District and its Varsity Football Coach, Tim Paske, have reached an understanding regarding an on-going personnel issue. Mr. Paske will resume his head coaching responsibilities Monday, Oct. 15," the press release states.

Word reached the public Wednesday that Greene had suspended its longtime head football coach. The official reason for the suspension was never divulged and Superintendent Jonathan Retz cited his obligation not to disclose private information about personnel issues.

“We are still working on things,” Retz said this morning. “I am sitting down with Coach Paske today. He does a nice job and he is thought of very highly by the community, myself included, but that does not mean I can shirk on my personnel duties.”

Citizens came to Paske's defense at a school board meeting earlier this week, frustrated with the suspension which originally was expected to last the duration of the season. As a result of today's decision, Paske will only miss one game. Widespread speculation said the disciplinary action had to to with Paske's decision to allow the football team to decline participation in the school's homecoming parade, but that rumor was never addressed officially by Greene school officials.

"Please respect that this issue has been resolved and allow the Greene Football Team to focus on the remainder of their season," the press release stated.
