Unadilla Valley 54, Deposit-Hancock 14
NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley was given a win over Deposit-Hancock by forfeit in week one. To finish the season, the Storm defeated a fully equipped Eagles squad Friday night for their fourth win of the season.
Kody Homann had a career night in his final game as a UV player. Homann had six touchdowns – two rushing, three receiving, and one by interception – and threw another touchdown pass on a halfback option to quarterback Kurt Haycook.
Haycook had TD passes to Homann and Justin Hofer, and Hofer added a pair of halfback option TD tosses, both to Homann. It was a banner finish for the Storm’s “three H’s” as well as the rest of the UV corps. “We decided we wanted to go out and have fun our last game, and we tried all of our unique little plays,” said UV coach Daryl Decker. “We scored early in the game, and just took off from there.”
The Storm had 344 yards of total offense, and the defense allowed negative 17 rushing yards and just a pair of big-play touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Leading the offensive line were Alex Avolio and Richie Conklin, who came to Decker before the game. “They told me, ‘coach we’ll open holes for you today,’ Decker said. “We ran behind Alex and Richie on the left side all game.”
