NORWICH – Seven people were arrested and charged with a variety of misdemeanor crimes following the conclusion of an investigation by the Norwich City Police Department into the sale of illegal narcotics at a pair of East Main Street residences last night.
At approximately 9 p.m., city police officers and Chenango County Sheriff’s deputies made simultaneous entries into apartments located at 92 and 94 East Main St., executing a pair of search warrants issued by Chenango County Court Judge W. Howard Sullivan. The investigation leading to the arrests was conducted by members of the Norwich City PD and the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team.
Those charges included:
• Jo Anne Beeching, 62, Norwich, charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; and first degree loitering, a class B misdemeanor.
• Sarah A. Cahill, 32, 92 East Main St., Norwich, charged with first degree criminal nuisance, a class E felony; seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; second degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor; criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, a class A misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
