Unadilla Valley 69, Hancock 31
NEW BERLIN – Sherburne-Earlville and Unadilla Valley will meet in a tournament final for the second time this season after each advanced in Friday’s first-round tournament games.
S-E freshman Savannah Irwin led her club down the stretch scoring 10 of her season-high 18 points in the final quarter against Cazenovia.
The Lakers briefly led in the fourth after a Christie Klein three, but Irwin had two fourth-quarter threes of her own, and a steal and layup in the final seconds wrapped up the victory.
Jordan VanAlthuis also scored 18 for S-E to go with six assists, while Lilly Berg had 13 points and seven rebounds.
Taylor Davis scored a season-high 22 points for Unadilla Valley, who rolled past Hancock.
Davis had nine points in each of the first and third quarters. “It was definitely a slow start for both teams, but once we starting pressing, that got us into the flow,” said UV coach Brandi Backus.
Amanda Off added 17 in the win and Jordan Anderson scored 13. The tournament final, scheduled for Saturday, was postponed until a later date due to inclement weather.
