Norwich 49, Chenango Forks 36
CHENANGO FORKS – With two starters sitting most of the first half with foul trouble, junior guard Jennifer Borfitz stepped forward on the offensive end to lead the Tornado.
Borfitz hit both of her three-pointers in the second stanza scoring 14 of her season-high 21 points lifting Norwich to its fifth win in six games. While Borfitz was leading the offensive charge, the Tornado defense clamped down on Forks’ outside shooting game. The three-point happy Blue Devils went just 4-for-23 from behind the arc, and fell behind by as many as 18 points to the Tornado in the fourth.
“It was a great effort defensively,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett. “Chenango Forks lives and dies by the three, and tonight we got out to the shooters. Almost every one of their three-point attempts was well contested.”
Norwich plays at Seton Catholic Central Wednesday in a key league matchup. “We’re entering the important part of our season in terms of sectional seedings points and where we are as a team,” Bennett said. “Wednesday is a huge game for us.”
