SMYRNA – Wolf Mountain Nature Center will host a Wolf Moon Howl night, next Saturday, Jan. 26. The full moon will coincide with the weekend, which is a relatively rare event.
Although scientists claim the connection between wolf howling and the full moon is circumstantial, human mythology has long linked the infamous cry of the wolf with full moons.
“The Native Americans have a name for each moon cycle,” said Wolf Mountain director Will Pryor. “And their name for the full moon in January is the Wolf Moon, which is just great for our Howl Night.”
