NORWICH – Frigid temperatures are good news for local ice skaters. The City of Norwich Ice Rink on Borden Avenue opened yesterday and will remain open daily as long as temperatures remain cold.
Youth Bureau Director Robert Mason says the rick will be open weekdays from 3 to 9 p.m. and from noon until 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
“The rink will also open at noon during school vacations and holidays,” added Mason.
Ice conditions and any updates are posted on Facebook, on the City of Norwich Youth Bureau page.
The information is also available by calling the Youth Bureau office at 334-1206 weekday mornings from 9 until noon.
Mason also used the occasion of the rink opening to announce a Community Skate Party at the Borden Avenue facility set for Saturday, Feb. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. The popular winter event features music by a DJ, free snacks and door prizes.
