Oxford 59, Afton 44

OXFORD - Oxford used balanced offense in the opening quarter to establish command over Afton in Thursday night’s game.

Six different players contributed to Oxford’s 23-point opening quarter with Cameron Heggie and Andrew Golden bucketing six points apiece, and Kevin Davis adding five. That balance extended to the game-ending box score as Golden finished with 22, and Heggie netted a season-high 19. Golden added 13 rebounds, while Davis charted nine boards and four assists.

“At this point of the season, we need to balance some things out on offense,” said Oxford coach Tim Davis. “We need to get others to score (other than Andrew), especially early in the game. We worked on some different things on offense this week, and some other guys got involved.”
