McDONOUGH – The Chenango County Snowmobile Federation sponsors the third annual Snowblast and first-ever breast cancer awareness destination ride from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Brackel Bar & Grill, 107 Kinney Rd., McDonough. Dubbed ‘Riding the Bumps to get Rid of the Lumps,’ the ride will benefit individuals in New York State who are struggling with breast cancer.
If there’s still enough snow Saturday, eight snowmobile clubs will take off on their own destination rides ending at the Brackel Bar & Grill. Activities will be held at the bar from noon to 4 p.m., regardless of weather conditions.
More than 30 businesses have already contributed to this weekend’s event, including the Sundown Golf Course in Guilford, Raymond Corporation, the Silo Restaurant in Greene, Preston Snowmobile LLC, and many others. Each business made a minimum donation of $50 to merit the title of supporting sponsor. Joining the Chenango County Snowmobile Federation this Saturday will be two members of the Pink Ribbon Riders, a volunteer organization from Michigan, whose mission is to financially assist individuals diagnosed with breast cancer. The proceeds from this weekend’s events will be donated directly to the Pink Ribbon Riders, who in turn will disseminate it to individuals in New York who are combating the disease.
“Every family is touched by breast cancer,” said Snowblast organizer Sandy Rhodes. “Everyone has breasts and people struggling with breast cancer really need financial aid.”
