WINDSOR – Norwich has struggled to consistently make outside shots – until Thursday night.
Junior Jennifer Borfitz made seven three-pointers in a career-high scoring night finishing with 24 points in a runaway victory over the Black Knights.
Carin Kuhn scored all eight of her points in Norwich’s opening quarter, and that included two three balls to give NHS nine treys for the game, by far the best total in head coach Josh Bennett’s tenure. “I always thought we were capable of making shots, and we really needed a game like this coming down the stretch,” Bennett said. “We made an adjustment against their zone, and our guards did a nice job of penetrating and kicking it out to the wing.”
Borfitz made at least one three in every quarter, and buried three in second quarter as Norwich (9-5) built a 15-point halftime lead. Breanna Cashman added 12 points in the victory. The Purple Tornado host Chenango Forks Saturday night.
