This week before we give the brief history of the above named district, we must return to Dist. #6 the article of February and “set the record straight.” Last week, as you readers might recall, Kay Zaia corrected me on the actual location of Dist. #6, which was labeled on the photo provided this writer as Holmesville District. The number of the district is correct, however it was misnamed Holmesville District. For lack of correct history, if only we had the school registers from that district, this writer is renaming District #6 as Skinner. The photo that was included with the February 7th article is actually Holmesville, which is District #19 which the article relevant to the history of school will be written at a later date. Briefly, and documentation will appear later, this writer has a special thank you to “Pastor Kip” of the Holmesville Baptist Church for forwarding to this writer, through a series of e-mails, the correct information.
Let this writer now turn to District #8 which I am assuming would have been the Hunt’s Pond District as the school was located just past the intersection of Buttermilk Falls Road on (Lot #44) what I will assume is now and abandoned road leading through what is now Hunt’s Pond State Forest. In my never ending travels to these school sites, this not been personally checked out, waiting for spring.
