GENEVA – Hobart junior forward Richie Bonney (Norwich/Norwich, N.Y.) earned a spot on the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Men’s Basketball First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Since the program’s inception in 1952, Bonney is just the second Hobart College basketball player to earn a spot on the Academic All-America teams – joining 1986 honorable mention selection Derek Dominici ’87 – and the first to garner first team recognition.

To be eligible for academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

A philosophy and public policy studies double major, Bonney is a two-time Capital One Academic All-District pick and a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection. He is a Dean’s List student and a member of Chimera, the Hobart junior class honor society.
