CONFIRMED: Body found in Pharsalia Tuesday was Jennifer Ramsaran

NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Ernest R. Cutting Jr. have confirmed that a body discovered Tuesday evening off Center Road in the Town of Pharsalia is indeed that of 36-year-old Jennifer L. Ramsaran, missing since Dec. 11 from her Town of New Berlin home.

“We don’t have the autopsy results yet and until we get those back I really can’t speculate,” said Cutting on whether or not he suspected foul play. “They haven’t given us a cause of death yet.”

A mother of three, Ramsaran was last seen by her husband, Ganesh Remy Ramsaran, who contacted The Evening Sun shortly before 2:30 p.m. with the news of the confirmation. According to Mr. Ramsaran, his wife was planning a trip to Destiny USA to do some holiday shopping the morning of Dec. 11. He reported her missing later that evening, locating her cell phone the next day utilizing Apple’s Find My iPhone application. Mrs. Ramsaran’s 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was discovered several days later at the Plank Road Manor on Plymouth Street in the City of Norwich by her father, Thomas Renz.

According to authorities, Ramsaran’s minivan, cell phone and body were all located within approximately twelve miles of one another along the state Highway 23 corridor.

On a Facebook page – Jennifer L. Ramsaran Missing Person – her husband, Remy Ramsaran posted the following this afternoon: “I would like to thank all those who gave up many precious hours of their own lives to help look for Jennifer. To all of the friends and family of both mine and Jennifer’s, I thank you. I especially thank the businesses that stepped forward and offered their services such as Hayes Printing in Norwich NY, St. Bartholomew’s Church in Norwich NY, CBS Outdoors Billboard, and the entire staff at LostNMissing Inc. who worked many hours voluntarily and provided support to me and my children, awareness and non-stop searching for Jennifer. I thank you all.”

The Sheriff’s Office – along with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office – is continuing to investigate the cause of her death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 337-1924 or 337-1864. All calls will be kept confidential.
