NORWICH – Reservations are being accepted for the third annual Norwich Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet, scheduled Saturday, May 11 at the Canasawacta Country Club.

This year’s inductees are Lew Newton, Fred Swertfager, Bobby Lazor, George Echentile, Bob Van Tine, and the 1952 varsity football team. Reception is at 5 p.m. with the banquet to start at 5:45 p.m.

Reservation forms are available at the Norwich YMCA, Wells Fargo Advisors, and Norwich City Schools. Forms may be dropped off at those sites or mailed to Fred Miers, 1 Coomes St, Norwich, NY 13815. Reservations are $35 per person. Tables of 10 or 12 may also be reserved at $35 per person.

To help defray rising costs of food, printing and awards, the Hall of Fame committee is also accepting donations from patrons. Patrons’ names will be acknowledged in the official Hall of Fame program. “Any amount will be appreciated and will help us to honor the inductees of this event that benefits our community,” said Hall of Fame chairman, Scott Ryan.
