Norwich 7, Chenango Valley 0
CHENANGO VALLEY – With one starter out of the lineup, Norwich did not miss a beat in a shutout win over Chenango Valley Thursday.
Colin Stewart, Matt Craig, and Roman Cwynar all moved up one spot in singles, and won with little incident. Jamison Luke, making his first appearance this season, won at fourth singles topping Connor Harvey, 7-5, 7-5.
“That shows the depth we have when we stick an exhibition player into the lineup at fourth singles, and he beats his kid,” said Norwich coach John Stewart of Luke.
Grant Brightman and Danny Carson, who have not dropped a set this season, topped CV’s Michael Spena and Nick Simons, 6-3, 6-2. Spena and Simons are usually the Warrior’s third and fourth singles players, but were paired together yesterday in an effort to give Brightman and Carson a difficult match.
Brendon Budd and Alec Weaver coasted at second doubles, while freshmen Cameron Edwards and Carlos Ithier dropped just one game in a two-set victory.
Norwich is at Vestal today.
