NORWICH - Norwich junior left-handed pitcher Cody Barnes completed one of the best individual seasons for a Norwich pitcher since the mid-1980s striking out 12 in a four-hit shutout victory over Windsor Friday.

Barnes, who pitched less than 40 innings this season, finished with 81 strikeouts, the most whiffs recorded by a Norwich pitcher since the 1985 campaign. He also registered all five of Norwich's wins this season and had an ERA well below two. "Cody had to be good tonight. He was in a real pitchers' duel with Windsor's (Jake Conroy)," said Norwich coach Rich Turnbull.

Conroy fanned 11, walked two, and allowed just five Norwich hits. The Tornado touched Conroy for two runs in the fourth and a single run in the sixth.

Chris Trevisani drove in all three NHS runs hitting a two-run single in the fourth and an RBI single in the sixth. Over his final two games this year, Trevisani drove in eight runs, while also making two outstanding defensive plays at second base Friday, Turnbull said. "It's easy to point to Cody in this game, but Chris is another unsung hero for us," Turnbull said. "He really came to life in the last two games."

Norwich finishes the season with a 5-13 record.
