NORWICH – The Donna Frech School of Dance (DFSD), 7-9 Berry Street in Norwich, will present its 38th annual recital, “Take It To The Limit,” this weekend. Evening performances will take place at 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday, with a matinee performances set for 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Norwich High School auditorium.
The DFSD was established in 1975 and is the area’s longest continually run dance studio. With three locations - Norwich, New Berlin and Sidney - and dancers ranging from small children to adults, the annual recital offers something for everyone, according to dance instructor Donna Frech.
The performances consist of traditional and innovative forms of the art of dance: tap, ballet, jazz, acrobatics, lyrical, modern/contemporary, musical theater and hip hop.
According to Frech, many audience members who attend every year do not have family members in the performance. Said one faithful attendee, “The performance is so enjoyable to watch, it’s very entertaining, and there’s something different throughout the performance.”
“This year’s performances are the culmination of a dance year filled with hard work, discipline, fun and dreams,” stated Frech, who added that the choreography, music, costumes and entire concept will make an audience member feel as though they’re watching a professional touring company.
In addition, many of the dancers with DFSD are members of award winning dance groups.
