CONKLIN - Buoyed by a pair of eagles on the Conklin Players Club’s ninth hole, Norwich’s golfers soared to an opening-match victory over Susquehanna Valley Tuesday afternoon, 208-221.
Senior Corey Johnson and freshman Nate Scheer each eagled the 462-yard ninth. Scheer laced a four-iron from a fairway bunker to under five feet before making his putt. Johnson took a more conventional route striping a 7-iron to just two feet for the kick-in eagle.
“Conklin’s front nine was a pretty good test for our young kids, and 208 is good score on the road for even the most experienced teams,” said Norwich coach Bob Branham.
