NORWICH – Chenango County Republican Committee Chairman Tom Morrone urges registered Republicans to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming September 10th primary elections.
The Town of Coventry will host primary contests for the Town Supervisor position and Town Council positions. The towns of Guilford and Smithville will host separate primary contests for the town supervisor position. A primary contest for town council will also occur in the Town of Oxford, and the City of Norwich will host a primary for alderman in Wards 4 and 6.
Polls are open from noon to 9 p.m. on Sept. 10. The voting locations are as follows:
Coventry - Coventry Town Hall, 1839 State Hwy. 235, Coventry, NY.
Guilford - Guilford Town Hall, 223 Marble Rd., Guilford, NY .
Oxford - District 1 & 2 Oxford Firehouse, 20 Main St., Oxford, NY.
City of Norwich - St. Bart’s Parish Center, 81 E. Main St., Norwich, NY.
Smithville - Genegantslet Fire House, 5333 State Hwy. 41, Smithville Flats, NY.
Republican primaries are an important part of the election process, however, many people do not vote in primaries and primaries are often won or lost by only a handful of votes. As stated by Chairman Morrone, “While primary elections do not determine who will become elected officials, they are important because they decide who gets to be on the ballot in November.”
Morrone continued by saying voting shows good citizenship.
