BAINBRIDGE – Greene’s offense rolled over the B-G defense at will, and its defense allowed virtually nothing in a shutout win over the Bobcats Friday night.

The Trojans ran for 318 yards, and combined with quarterback Joe Beckwith’s passing, accumulated nearly 400 yards of total offense. On the Bobcats’ side, the home club had negative total yards in the first half, only two first downs for the game, and crossed the 50-yard line into Greene territory just once, and that was a result of a Trojans turnover.

“They were just that much better than us, and I was pretty impressed with them,” said B-G coach Tim Mattingly of the Trojans. “They controlled the line of scrimmage, and pretty much did what they wanted offensively.”

Five different Greene backs had rushing touchdowns. Senior Joel Roselle had a team-high 94 yards rushing and and first-quarter 11-yard TD blast, freshman Luke Erickson initiated the winner’s scoring with a seven-yard TD jaunt, while Cole Nelson, Tyler Dickman, and Zach Orzell tacked on rushing scorers.

First-year varsity kicker Wyatt Johns added a 32-yard field goal to complete the Trojans’ all-around performance. “Greene has pretty good experience at quarterback and running back, the receivers were good, and the defense was solid,” Mattingly said. “Greene will hold its own in Class C this year.”

The Bobcats face Groton this coming weekend.
