OXFORD – The Oxford Memorial Library is set to host a program, “15 Miles on the Erie Canal” at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10 in the community youth services room at the library on 8 Fort Hill Park in Oxford.
This program is a performance by Bells and Motley, said youth services coordinator Carolyn Thau.
“This is a family oriented program geared toward children over the age of eight, teens and adults,” stated Thau.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience an 1800s canal sing-along in a “folk-opera” style, Thau added.
Canal music will be played on historical instruments, and performers will be donned in period costumes with appropriate props.
“There’ll be some good old fashioned tall tales, too,” said Thau.
This program is made possible with public funds administered by the Chenango Arts Council, and is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) with support from Governor Andrew Cuomo and the NYS Legislature.
