Oxford 1, Walton 0 (OT)

OXFORD – It was better late than never for Oxford Wednesday night as the Blackhawks won their first game in the season finale.

After playing to a scoreless tie through regulation, Oxford capitalized on its best opportunity of the game with 2:20 left in the first overtime. After an initial cornerkick was cleared back to the outside, a re-entry pass into the 18-yard box led to a scramble and Andi DeStefano’s winning goal.

The victory was preserved by the Oxford defense and goalie Rachel Seiler, who made 17 saves in the shutout. “Defensively, the kids played well and Rachel made a lot of good saves for us,” said Oxford coach Kathleen Cragle.

Greene 5, Sidney 4

GREENE – Greene senior Paige Wilcox had her breakout game this season, and it came at the perfect time Wednesday against visiting Sidney.

Wilcox scored five goals the last with 6:24 left to give her club the lead for good. Wilcox snapped a 1-1 tie two minutes into the second half, and a big save by Trojans goalie Lindsey Brown helped maintain the lead. Brown made a diving stop of a Sidney penalty kick, a tally that may have led to an overtime contest.
