NORWICH – Sure as the perpetual return of dark mornings and frosty fall temps, so too does the Norwich Family YMCA's Halloween parade ring in the city's bout of holiday season parades. The YMCA will be hosting this year’s annual Halloween parade at 2 p.m., Saturday Oct. 26 along the streets of downtown Norwich. Ghosts and ghouls of all sizes and fright will briefly take over the city in effort to place among the notoriety of Halloween past.
An event that both community children and adults have come to revere, the parade will commence at it's usual post located at Beebe Avenue alternating the side streets northbound and will disband at Howard Johnson's rear parking lot. Drivers are urged to use caution as detours will be in place to accommodate the hairy hoopla.
The judging panel for floats and costume will be centrally located the East Park Place stage and placing will be announced immediately following the parade. The judging panel will be comprised of various members of the community. Chenango County Judge Frank Revoir Jr. will preside over the festivities as emcee and music will be provided by Rhett Genung at Rockstar Dee Jay Service. This year's float submission categories includes local schools, businesses, non-school organizations and individual families as well.
