NORWICH – The Norwich Cyclones “C” Team advanced to the Tri-Valley League championship game with a 19-12 double overtime win over Cazenovia Sunday at Norwich High School’s turf field.

Norwich’s Andrew Mullen reached paydirt on a 15-yard run in the second quarter making it 6-6 at the half. The score remained the same through regulation to force overtime.

In the first overtime, Cazenovia scored from the six-yard line on fourth down on a reverse with a pass for a touchdown.

Troy Spratley tied the score for the Cyclones at 12-12 on a two-yard run. Spratley also scored on a one-yard touchdown the second overtime with a Michael Squires pass to Ayden John Lorimer good for the point -after touchdown (PAT). The Cyclones’ defense held to prevail on the Lakers’ possession.

The Lakers controlled the ball most of the second half, with a 12-minute, 75-yard drive with the Cyclones holding them at the 5.

On defense, Jared Houck had a fumble recovery and Mullen had an interception. Spratley, Tyler Rice, Griffin Mills, Parker Rothwell, Cameron Byrne, Squires, Izaiah Caballero, along with huge stops by Dante Geislinger, kept the defense strong. In addition, the final stop by Ayden John Lorimer in overtime on the fourth down, along with his booming punts, made this one a truly exciting game.
