NORWICH – Judge Frank B. Revoir, Jr. presided over Chenango County Court on Nov. 18. A female theif paid restitution to her elderly victim, and a heroin user got a break on sentencing as a first time offender.

• Amber E. Limacher, 27, Milton, Vt., was charged and plead guilty to a class D felony for criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree. It was alleged that Limacher forged elderly victims’ checks while doing direct door-to-door sales.

“Judge, the defendant ripped off the elderly. She used the money to pay for housing and drugs. The victim will never fully be made whole again. She no longer trusts people,” said District Attorney Joe McBride.

Limacher was to receive a split sentence of six months jail time and five years probation, unless she could pay restitution within a specific time frame. If she did pay restitution in time, she was to receive straight probation. Limbacher did pay back her elderly female victim in the amount of $2,994.50. She also gave her victim a formal apology.

When asked if he wanted to speak on his client’s behalf, Public Defender John Cameron said, “My client deeply regrets what she has done. She has financially made the victim whole and formally apologized.”

When asked if she would like to speak on her behalf, Limacher said, “I apologize for what I have done. It will not happen again.”
