Susquehanna Valley 40, Norwich 38
CONKLIN – Susquehanna Valley stunned Norwich Friday night rallying from seven points down in the fourth quarter to beat the Tornado at the buzzer.
SV junior guard Jordyn Williams made her only bucket of the game count hitting a jumpshot from the right wing as time expired to give her team the comeback win.
“They played very well tonight, and we did not play well,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett of the Sabers. “It was as bad as I’ve seen our guards shoot, and then they became a little gun shy because we weren’t making shots. Give credit to Sus Valley; they played their zone very hard and were very active.”
Norwich led after each quarter extending the margin incrementally. Kassidy Seary scored eight of Norwich’s 12 points in the second quarter lifting Norwich to a 23-18 lead. The Tornado added two to the margin after three as Jenni Borfitz and Shelby Benjamin had a pair of buckets.
Borfitz and Breanna Cashman scored nine apiece to lead the Purple Tornado. “This is a good opportunity for us to overcome adversity,” Bennett said.
