COOPERSTOWN (AP) ‐ New York State Police say they're investigating a report of shots fired inside a store on Main Street in Cooperstown.

Troopers say gunfire was reported around 9 a.m. Monday inside the 7th Inning Stretch store, just a few doors away from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

They've closed off Main Street and are telling people to stay away from the area until they get more information.

Trooper Nathan Riegal says there are no reports of injuries. He says a suspect fled from the scene, but it isn't known yet if he left on foot or in a vehicle.

The store bills itself on its website as the largest vendor of sports memorabilia in town.

Some of the baseball souvenir stores and other shops lining Main Street closed Monday or were already closed for the winter.
