Update: State Police have identified a person wanted for questioning in Norwich gun burglaries:

State Police are currently looking for 29-year-old Christopher M. Gonzalez who is wanted for questioning in reference to these burglaries. Please contact the New York State Police at Norwich at 607-334-3296 or Sidney at 607-561-7400 with any information regarding these crimes.

The two incidents occurred between 9:52 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014. Numerous firearms were taken from the store, including upwards of 22 hand guns, several long guns and numerous boxes of ammunition.

The New York State Police are looking for anyone with information regarding two separate burglaries of 22 handguns and several long guns that occurred at Mayhood’s Sporting Goods in Norwich late Monday evening and early Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, the two incidents occurred between 9:52 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday. In addition to the stolen guns, police say numerous boxes of ammunition were also taken.

Police used surveillance photos from Mayhood’s to help identify a subject. The investigation is ongoing.

According to Mike Mayhood, most of the firearms stolen have been returned and a subject is in custody at this time. Mayhood also noted that authorities are still looking for another subject in connection with the crime.

A representative from the State Police could not be contacted to verify Mayhood’s comments at press time and names of the subjects were not made available.
