DVD Patrol: Paranoia, Runner Runner, Getaway

We're Back, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol is ready to roll for 2014 and the Toddster hopes you've enjoyed our specials for the past few weeks and hopes everyone has survived the Holidays. The Toddster is happy to say he made it through and now it's time to get back to business. What do you say we get started?

Runner Runner – Making a fast buck is a good idea but doesn't always work out the way you want it to. Richie (Justin Timberlake) was one of the best students to come out of Princeton but he faced that one thing that all college students have to face: paying your tuition. He thinks he can make a fast buck by playing on an online poker site where he believes he can make some quick money. His plans don't work out the way he wants and he loses his money. Richie finds a glitch in the program and he thinks the man in charge of the site should know about it. He goes to Costa Rica to confront Ivan Block (Ben Affleck). He appreciates Richie's help and offers him a job to make sure that it doesn't happen again. Richie soon gets sucked into the glitz and glamour that a lot of money can bring. He soon finds that this wasn't such a good idea. Can he find a way out before Block gets him? Not only is Affleck getting ready to be Batman in "Batman Vs Superman" but there is now talk he may get to star in some solo Batman projects. Stay tuned for more news on this.

Ninja: Shadow of a Tear – There comes a time when being a hero has to stop. Casey Bowman (Scott Adkins) had just become master of his Teacher's dojo after avenging his Death and rescuing the Master's daughter. Now two years later, they fall in love and they're about to have a child. Everything is about to change after Casey returns home to find out she has been killed. Nothing will stand in his way as he cuts his way across Asia to find the enemy of his former Master. Will Casey be able to get justice for his family? Adkins can now be seen in "The Legend of Hercules" giving Hercules (Kellan Lutz) a run for his money and can be seen in theaters now.

Getaway – Making a new start is never an easy thing to do. Brent Magna (Ethan Hawke) was forced out of racing after something went wrong. Now he's living in Europe with his new wife. When he returns home to find it's been ransacked and his wife is missing, he gets a call from a man (Jon Voight) with a mission for him. Brent has to drive a car through the city and complete a series of tasks or his wife will be killed. One of his tasks goes wrong when he gets a kid (Selena Gomez) who tries to carjack him. Brent talks her out of it but Brent's boss tells him she has to stay on the car or else. Will Brent and the kid be able to find out what the Boss finally wants? Check another new DVD along the same lines in "Closed Circuit" starring Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall in stores.

Paranoia – Being caught between a rock and a hard place is never where you want to be. Adam Cassidy (Liam Hemsworth) was a tech star who had some great ideas for the company he worked for but his boss Nicholas Wyatt (Gary Oldman) didn't see it that way. After Adam and his team lose their jobs, Adam decides to take the company card and have a party with his pals. That might not have been a such a good idea. Wyatt and his people find out and give Adam a proposition. Steal some tech secrets from the competition or go to jail. Adam takes them up on their offer and he goes to work for Jock Goddard (Harrison Ford). Goddard likes Adam and his ideas. Adam also meets Emma Jennings (Amber Heard) who works for Goddard and isn't sure what to think of Adam. Adam is contacted by an FBI agent (Josh Halloway) who may have a way out for him if he finds evidence for him. What will Adam do next? Heard teams with Kevin Costner in "3 Ways to Kill" coming soon to theaters and Halloway stars as Gabriel Black in the new CBS action drama "Intelligence" airing on CBS Mondays at 10 p.m.
